4237.0. "errors using Intel Pro100B's and Portswitch?" by PHXSS1::POWERS_BR () Wed Feb 26 1997 15:03
Customer is using Intel Pro100B network cards in their network.
They are getting a large amount of alignment and short errors.
They are also getting 99% utilization with one system. They isolated
2 systems and ran it on a small dumb hub & Cabletron equipment, neither
of which displayed the same problem as on the DH900 and Portswitches.
They have been in contact with Intel and Intel says that is
indicative of the cards thinking they are running on a full duplex hub.
The customer changed the card setting to force 10MBPS and half-duplex.
Still had the problem. They do not know what is causing this.
Does anyone have any ideas? This is getting to be a real problem,
as 160 machines have these cards. Do we handle enet connections
differently on Portswitches vs Cabletron and others?
thanks,
Brian Powers
