4203.0. "MAU/no MAU for 1 TRN station on the DS900ET" by MARS03::THOMAS () Fri Feb 07 1997 05:14

Can i connect the RJ45 connectors of the 2 TOKEN RING ports on a
DECswitch 900ET to 2 PC (PC1 and PC2) on OS/2 with a TOKEN RING interface,
like that:

------------------------------- Ethernet
		I
	DECswitch 900ET
	I I
	I I
	TRN TRN
	Board Board
	OS/2 OS/2
	PC1 PC2

or do i need 2 MAU to do that:

------------------------------- Ethernet
		I
	DECswitch 900ET
	I I
	I I
	MAU MAU
	I I
	I I
	TRN TRN
	Board Board
	OS/2 OS/2
	PC1 PC2

	Thank you for the answer.

	Regards,

	Bernard THOMAS

I have connected an IBM PC with a TRN interface to one of the 2
TRN ports of a DECswitch 900ET, without a MAU. The TRN doesn't work.
    The network is like this.

    ------------------- Ethernet
    	   I Transparent Bridging
    	DS900ET
        T1 T2 Source Routing
    	T
    	PC

The DS900ET does only Bridging with SR<->TB (no routing).

So for me, it seems that a MAU is neeeded. Could you confirm me
    this idea?

    	Thank you for the answer.

    	Bernard
