Hi, I have put in PORTswitch 900TP on my DEChub900 Multiswitch, but when I tried to configure it through hubwatch/multichasis Manager V5.0, the "station configuration" button (to connect the port to the front or the back plane) on the configuration section is gray out?!! What do I have to set or do to make this a usable option?? Sorry that this may sound like a stupid question.

Did you select the icon that represents the 900TP at the top of the view? This should make the config button active. If this isn't the problem, what versions of firmware are you running on both the 900TP and Hub Manager.

Nyet. Not a stupid question, either. A portswitch 900TP does not use the "config" button. Only devices such as a DECswitch, that have ports capable of being switched between the front and back , use it. The number of ports available on the backplane for the 900TP is determined by how many different internal LANs you have assigned front-panel ports to. Press the "portswitch" button on the LAN Interconnect screen. Assign front-panel ports to the repeater's internal LANs. Then go back to the LAN Interconnect screen and connect those repeater internal LANs, which now appear as port stubs, onto the Hub's LANs. -mike

Thank you so much for all your help. I will try that. By the way, do you know where I can get some documentation (user guide) on this? Thanks a million Leanne

Most of the manual is in the Help. Try that. Also check out note #3 in this conference. Also check the web page at [internal] http://npbww2.hpn.lkg.dec.com/ [external] http://www.networks.digital.com/ |
