3830.0. "DECSwitch 900FO firmware upgrade procedure ?" by COPCLU::EBC () Mon Sep 02 1996 05:31

NETCAD::PROJ$722:[ONEHUB.RELEASE.DEFBB.V1_7_0] contains release notes, that say
you should upgrade V1.1.0 switches to V1.1.1 before upgrading to V1.7.0.
The release notes advices you to look at our web pages for V1.1.1, but I have
not been able to locate it there.

The NETCAD directory also contains file 7500149_08_C01_README.TXT which contains
the following text:

75-00149-08 Rev D01 README FILE

Main Firmware image for the DEFBB (54-22451-04)

        defbb170.bin V1.7.0

To load the main firmware image, you must setup the following
entry in an ultrix bootptab file.

FE200:bf=//defbb170.bin

Then enter the diagnostics and run test 1000, the primitive loader,
to load the image. (diag> run 1000)

This loads the image using Port 2 (the first ethernet Fiber port).

What is the correct procedure, and if V1.1.1 is needed, where can it be found ?

that _C01_README.TXT file is really meant for manufacturing.

If you somehow manage to get into diagnostic mode, which normally
is not possible (requires taking the unit apart) you can use the
method in that README file to load V1.7 code directly (without
    having to load V1.1.1)

However, in the field the easiest way to upgrade from V1.1.0 is
to first load V1.1.1 and then load V1.7

I checked the web page and there was no mention of DECswitch 900FO.
I have copied the image to this (vms) location for now.
