Obtained LED status from customer on the DS900EF. Fault isolated to the SMF link dropping-off. Fault happens several times a day. Asked customer to have only one link between the two DS900EFs. Fault still happened - doesn't matter which link is used. This says (most likely) the fibre is not at fault. Currently both the DS900EFs are running version 1.5 Firmware. Suggested customer to upgrade to 1.6.1 or atleast 1.5.2. Any other suggestions ? Alphonse

3828.1 | SMF PMDs are on the DEF1H power supply | GIDDAY::STANISLAUS | Tue Sep 03 1996 02:10 | 6
I did not make it clear in .0 that SMF PMDS are on the DEF1H power supply. Customer is using SMF. He is not using the MMF PMDs that come mounted in any DS900EF. Alphonse
3828.2 | I'd suggest upgrading the 900ef's to newer firmware.... | NETCAD::BATTERSBY | Tue Sep 03 1996 14:34 | 9
This is foggy in my DECswitch project days, but if this customer is really using DECswitch firmware as old as 1.5.0 (older than 1.5.2), then I'd say that this is likely the problem. I very vaguely recall that there were some bugs/problems associated with the use of the 900ef with firmware older than 1.5.2 with a DEF1H. So I'd say that there's a good chance that problems will go away with more current firmware loaded to the 900ef's. Bob
