3827.0. "Stonybrook WANservices Manager" by NETRIX::"[email protected]" (NSIS Austria) Fri Aug 30 1996 07:02

Hi all,

Some time ago Stonybrook announced their new "WANservices Manager" to better
track Frame Relay, ISDN and X.25 lines.
The application is available as a standalone app for about $5000 or integrated
in the Intranet Manager 3.5(at no cost).

-Will these applications be integrated into the clearVISN suite?
-if yes, what is the estimated timeframe?
-if no, will the Intranet Manager and/or WANservices manager integrate into
 PNV/NT?

regards
Robert

***here is the reply i got from RAVI GULATI(Vice president at Stonybrook) *****

StonyBrook does not support PNV/NT for the future
products and unless some radical changes happen at
Digital, it has no plans to support PNV/NT for any
of it's future products.

The current version of WANServices Manager (WSM)
is also available as an integrated part of IM.
Neither application is designed to run on PNV/NT.

WSM is the only application in the market that can
map switches and switched services. PNV/NT
discovery is not relevant for the current market
where swictches and switched services are a major
part of the network - Frame Relay, ISDN, ATM, etc.

The evaluation kits exist for IM and WSM. Is this
something of interest given that StonyBrook will
not be supporting PNV. The rate at which Digital
incorporates this technology into clearVISN is
controlled by Digital. It is certainly available
to them for the taking.

Regards
Ravi
