3811.1 | Can't manage w/ HW either | NYOSS1::HERENDEEN | Tom Herendeen, 508-888-3239 | Tue Aug 27 1996 10:18 | 7 |
| One other thing... the MAU's can't be managed by HUBwach/Multi Chassis
Manager unless the management station is on the same ring. This is
sort of a critical problem.
Thanks

| is the cisco router performing source routing? there was a bug report
on this and code changed, but never released.
I see no problem with your subnet masking. The MAU does have the
correct address to be in that subnet?

3811.3 | more info looks like a Cisco problem | NYOSS1::HERENDEEN | Tom Herendeen, 508-888-3239 | Fri Sep 06 1996 11:22 | 18 |
| I went on site this week with a sniffer and found out some additional
information...
First there is a Cisco Catalyst 1600 Token ring switch in between the
router and the DECmau. With the sniffer, I could see the ARPs from the
router going through the 1600; the MAU sending an ARP Reply and the
1600 dropping the reply on the floor. When I moved the mau to be
adjacent to the router, every thing works just fine; move it back to
the other side of the 1600 and nothing works. The customer also
admitted that they had been getting complaints from users who couldn't
get to file servers in parts of the building that were served by IBM
MAU's that had a 1600 in their path.
My advice to the customer is to call Cisco
Maybe they should call Bay and get a Centillion 100 switch
