3805.0. "MCM crashes when retrieving RMON stats " by NETRIX::"[email protected]" (NSIS Austria) Wed Aug 21 1996 18:17

Hi there,

I have seen the following behaviour on several customers sites running
MCM 5.0 and DECswitch 1.6.1 firmware.

If i click on the RMON icon in the summary window the stats for the
6 enets are displayed.
If i click on the REFRESH or HISTORY button, MCM crashes and exits.
I have tested this several times, and it looks like that this only occurs if
the switch has more than "light traffic" (what ever value this means).

If I test this on a light loaded switch I NEVER got this behaviour!!

Are there any restrictions in the RMON functionality depending on the
switches load, meaning, can the switch handle heavy traffic AND rmon?

any help
Robert

	I'm seeing the same problem. MCM 5.0, DECswitch900 1.7, DMHUB 4.2 and
Win '95. I don't think it's load related as I've been used it on a hub with
no users connected yet.

The problem is that MCM crashes after doing a 'refresh' or 'history' ie
all the MCM windows disappear. I don't get the little "this program has caused
a GPF' window.

While on the subject, there seems to be a problem with the RMON window
eg click and drag the frame to make it smaller. The buttons on the lower strip
disappear and the scroll bar doesn't scroll far enough to reach them again.
