I just tried to set up some monitoring by defining a filter with IP format and specifying an IP destination address of 192.9.200.0. My goal is to capture all the traffic to network 192.9.200. I applied the filter to a new Domain, then applied that domain to my packetprobe90. The probe still capture all IP traffic - the probe is on a segment whose traffic is mostly 172.16.0.0 network traffic and the probe has a 172.16 address. It does see the 192.9.200 traffic, however, it doesn't seem to filter out everything but the 192.9.200 traffic as I want it to. Any suggestions?? regards, Richard

Forgot to say that PROBEwatch is V3.3 and Packetprobe90 is firmware rev 2.6, if that matters! | |||||
3761.2 | Solution: specify destination address | NETCAD::MORENZ | JoAnne Morenz NPE Network Management | Mon Aug 12 1996 11:02 | 9 |
Setting up the filter as Richard described would capture traffic only to the address 192.9.200.0, not to the entire network. The trick is to specify the destination address as 192.9.200.X. Here, X is the wildcard character for one byte of the address. Hope this does the trick. -Albin |
