A customer wants to know if he can connect a DEREN to say a DECrepeater 90FL -
seeing they are both fibre devices I suppose he can but are they to the same
specs and more importantly, will they work?
According to my 1991 catalogue, DEREN's are DECrepeater 200's,
the -RC and -RD versions are called remote repeaters and are called IEEE
802.3/Ethernet(FOIRL) compatible.
the -RP and -RQ versions are marked IEEE 802.3/Ethernet compatible only with
-RP or -RQ or LANbridge 150.
From this I suspect that the first two have a chance, but the second two do
not, which is a pity because the customer has -RQ's!
Any comments, anyone??

3695.1 | FOIRL versions only | NETCAD::PAGLIARO | Rich Pagliaro, Networks BU, HPN | Wed Jul 10 1996 11:56 | 6 |
| Only the FOIRL-compatible DEREN variants will work with a DECrepeater
90FL. The fiber optic links used by the LANbridge 100/150 and the
DEREP (DECrepeater 100) pre-date both the FOIRL and 10BASE-F standards
and are not compatible with them.
