I have a few questions about clearVISN components: RMON manager 1) It looks like it will only take a 15 character community string, either read-only or read/write. This is a problem as my customter (DuPont) has set up write community strings to be >15 characters. I belive that SNMP allows for up to 32 characaters. Is this a know problem and what is the solution? 2) In order to use RMON manager for a DECswitch do I have to give the switch it's own IP address or is there a way to get to it via the hub manager using RMON manager? Recovery Mgr 3) Does it backup/restore VLAN information or do I need to do that via VLAN manager? thanks ...scott

Recovery Manager will backup and restore only the switch parameters, and the LAN Interconnect params. The VLAN info is already stored in the VLAN Manager database. So, on a restore operation, first restore your LAN Interconnect, then the Switch settings. Then run VLAN manager to reload the vlan. Tom Hood clearVISN |
