Hello, what happens, when I have not the actual versions of firmware in the hub and the modules? For example: Hub900 V4.1.1 EF-Switch V1.5.0 Conc.900MX V3.0.1 Hubwatch V4.1.1 Does this have an impact on any thing in the network? (In this example my customer has performance problems in his network and on the FDDI-ports in the Switch 900EF the incoming frames/sec are about 80000 - 100000; hubwatch shows an fddi-util. of 40%; an FDDI-probe shows an FDDI-util. of about 10%) Can anybody give some hints? Thanks Herbert

Your customer may simply be seeing void frames if the Ring Purger algorithm is turned on (which is the default, I think) for any of the Digital boxes on the ring. If this is the case it would not be causing him any network problems because it uses "extra" bandwidth that is not being otherwise used. He may want to look at the line counters of the systems having problems to track down his performance problems. At the US CSC, we usually recommend that customers go to the latest- and-greatest firmware first, and THEN we see if there's a problem. |
