3623.0. "How in the new CLEARvisn?" by PTOJJD::DANZAK (Pittsburgher ) Fri Jun 14 1996 01:44

    The prior version of the TFTP server allowed you to specify the
    Ethernet address and load file.

    How would I enter that in HUBloader?

    Again, HUBloader understands how to muck with hubs and Googleswiches,
    but DECservers and/or access points....help

    Any thoughts?
    j

    p.s. my old version of HUBloader is now ill...aarugh...since I put on
    the CLEARvisn stuff...aarguh

3623.1My suggestion to try....NETCAD::BATTERSBYDon't use time/words carelesslyFri Jun 14 1996 11:5412
    Well, the way I do this, (if this is what you have in mind),
    is to start up the router manager (which starts up the tftp
    server). Then you start up Flash loader. there will be a button
    labeled "Edit list". Click this and you can edit the loaddata.dat
    file with the info to load that particular device.
    then you click the button below that labeled "load from list"
    You can comment out the images you don't want loaded by adding
    the "#" at the beginning of the lines you don't want loaded.
    At least this works for me for switches & concentrators & stuff.
    I don't know if this will work for decservers or not.

    The aupported way ssoon to load decservers will be via the new
    clearvisn server manager. This comes with a TFTP and a BOOTP loader
    that is very nice - and it works too !!!

    I used this tftp loader the other day to give a brouter 90 a new
    version of software and had no problems - though I do miss the block
    completed counter that was in the old netrider loader :-(

    Anyway check out www-remote.lkg.dec.com for pointers on where to
    download the clearvisn server manager kit.

    Best of luck - Shaun

3623.3R we clarifying this...PTOJJD::DANZAKPittsburgher Sun Jun 16 1996 23:0011
    Thanks! (I thought that I was really missing something here...)

    So, basically CLEARvisn will NOT load everything that it needs to -
    another "gotcha" for devices that do BOOTP to be loaded.

    Are we going to clarify this for folks who buy an access point or
    DECbrouter or DECserver and try to load it with the "flash loader" and
    then find out..."oh I need the server manager"?

    (grumble)
