Customer has problems when adding peswitch PEswitch900tx to DEChub 900ms. DEChub900MS has; 4 PESwitch 900tx 1 DECbridge 900MX 3 pwr supplies. * - All 4 PEswitch go to 900mx and then onto Gigaswitch. Once a 5th PEswitch is added to fddi ring(LAN interconnect), cluster nodes complain w/ 'opa0: closing virtual circuit....'. Then they go in Cluster state transition and all is ok...for a while. During a day, the errors and state transition can happen once or 2x a day. 900 MS; v4.1.0 Hubwatch: v4.1.1 AUTOHEALING; disable DECbridge 900mx; v1.5.2 I've asked him to upgrade the 900MS to v4.1.1 but really, I'm grasping here. So....Is there some kind of limitation w/ any modules in this configuration? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Please provide us some more details. Are you using any backplane Ethernets? Give us the exact slot location of each module. You will need 8 backplane channels to interconnect the modules. If you have 6 Ethernets that means a total of 14 channels. Depending on module location you may have run out of channels. Check the Message View box for any messages about being out of resources. One of the older MAM firmware versions (I can't remember which one now) would give some less than optimal results if it was out of channels. | |||||

Actually now that my mind has engaged based on the fact that you are adding a 6th FDDI module you really need 10 channels for the FDDI which makes the probability of running out of channels even higher. |
