| Andrew,
I encountered the same problem and I did the following to fix it.
If you do not mind losing your current database...,
1) Stop the Router manager
2) Rename the directory \clearvis\btrieve to say \clearvis\btrieve.old
3) Create a new directory \clearvis\btrieve
4) Then start the Router manager. From what I observed, it re-created the
database files.

| RE: 3610.1
Deleting the btrieve directory and creating a new one
elliminated the database corruption error on Windows 95 and on
Windows NT. Thanks!
However, if the customer does not want to delete the whole router
management database, there must be a more gentle way to resolve this
problem of database corruption without deleting the whole btrieve
directory.
RE: 3592.1 I agree. Until now, the problem has appeared on
our internal PCs. What happens when it is a customer system?
Is this indeed a software bug?
Should we be reporting it through other channels?

Can anyone explain what database file is really getting corrupted?

Please open an IPMT case against clearVISN on this problem.
In the case I need you to describe in detail the steps required to
reproduce the problem.

Hello Bill,
I cannot tell you what causes this problem. I am a newbe on PCs
in general and ClearVisn in particular. I have been running ClearVisn
and the Router manager for several weeks without any problem (adding
and removing devices) on my Win95 PC. This morning I started
the application and I got the database corrupted error. I did the
steps in note 3610.1 and was able to bring up the router manager again.
The same files that existed in the previous \clearvisn\btrieve directory
magically re-appeared in the new directory I created. I did not have to
reinstall anything.
The two customers and a collegue that reported this problem could not
tell me what caused the corruption either. One customer had
reinstalled Clearvisn twice before calling us with the error but he
could not give me any specifics on what caused the corruption.
I can make my PC \btrieve folders available (I still have the old files)
if that would help. The *.btv files in the new \btrieve directory
all have today's date. I cannot tell if there is any physical
corruption on any of the files but I have not had any problems with any
other application on this PC. I have not installed any new software.
I have not changed my PC configuration in any way.
Urgh! I just restarted router manager and got the database corruption
error again! I did not change anything. I just did a file exit on
the router manager before I went to lunch.
What does the application do when starting up that we can use to trace
down the corrution? Are there some DLL files that we need to be aware
of? Any ideas? Is anyone else having this problem?

3610.5 | Will check into this | NETCAD::FORINO | | Thu Aug 08 1996 19:29 | 8 |
| Note 3570.4 contains Stonybrook's work around for
this problem but it really is no different that what
is being described here.
I check into trying to get more details on this and
get it off to StonyBrook.
