3605.1 | Any one has done report generation from DOS? | GIDDAY::DANIEL | | Thu Jun 13 1996 08:56 | 17 |
|
Let me rephrase my questions again.
1. Why is there a difference between ONLINE help & the actual filenames?
Eg. DVLOGD in stead of NSLOGD. Is this also seen in Vendor (Frontier)
docs?
2. I could not find any program NSRPT to run from DOS. The programs
NSRPTGEN.EXE & DVREPORT.EXE need windows to run. They cannot be
initiated from DOS prompt. I am looking for pointers as to how to set up
a command procedure which will automatically generate report without
having to fill in the details in a window.
Is there anyone who has ever done this?
Thanks in advance.
Daniel.

| Hello,
Isn't there any Gurus out there to help out?
Thanks in advance.

3605.3 | not a guru | TOOPCS::SELLES | | Tue Jun 18 1996 10:48 | 17 |
| i'm not a guru but the only way i was able to generate
some reports from Probewatch windows 3.3
was by starting the domain manager window
then starting the report generator window
by selecting a domain ;
and as it talks with
the report deamon , only one report can be done
at a time ( which is quite slow on the old
Decpc333 i use )
now when the report generator window is started
the domain manager window is no longer needed
i would be happy also to know how to do this
"non-interactively"

3605.4 | Digital Unix solution is dvreport | AKSELI::OJUSSILA | Olli Jussila, OMS Finland | Tue Jun 18 1996 13:32 | 22 |
|
I found command dvreport run non-interactive reports in
Digital UNIX.
Config file must be in /usr/kits/PROBEwatch/usr
for example
# more report_conf.txt
type: seg-details
agent: mtv_probe2
domain: ALL
header1: MTV A-TALO ethernet segment
header2: by DECpacketprobe90
footer: Digital Tietohallintopalvelut
lpp:72
/usr/kits/PROBEwatch/bin/dvreport probe_report.txt startime endtime >
o.o
Then we use Netview to produce graphs from this report.

3605.5 | Any ideas for doing it on PC? | GIDDAY::DANIEL | | Tue Jun 25 1996 22:47 | 14 |
| Olli,
Thanks for your info. Unfortunately cust only has Probewatch on PC.
Can this be done on Probewatch on PC from DOS prompt non-interactively
through a procedure which will execute automatically at a pre-determined
time?
Thanks in advance.
Daniel.
