| Hi Sergio,
Software:
You can use HUBwatch 4.1 or wait for the soon-to-be-released clearVISN 1.0
with Stack Manager 1.0.
DECagents:
Two choices:
- Use two DECagent 90 modules:
Put one DECagent 90 on each side of the WAN link. For the multiple
hubs/stacks on the bottom part of your drawing, create a separate
community within the DECagent 90 for each hub/stack.
With this approach, you will see all your 90 hubs/stacks as hubs/stacks.
- Use one DECagent 90 module:
On the top of your diagram, manage the DECbrouter and DECserver as
individual modules (they each have their own SNMP agent). On the
other side of the WAN, put in one DECagent 90 in one of the hubs, and
create a separate community within that DECagent 90 for each hub/stack.
The 2nd choice seems better to me. The DECagent 90 does not really add much
if all you have is a brouter and a DECserver, other than allowing HUBwatch or
clearVISN to show a single picture, instead of having to separately manage the
brouter and the server.
Router Configurator and Router Manager (to be released with clearVISN 1.0)
add *real* routing management capabilities. HUBwatch / Stack Manager /
MultiChassis Manager only have very basic control and monitoring for the
DECbrouter 90's.
HUBwatch V4.1 is available now for Digital UNIX on Alpha.
The clearVISN products will be available soon for NT on Alpha, and a little
while after that for Digital UNIX on Alpha.
