How many address and protocol entries can be stored in a 900EF? Especially for source address filtering, can you filter all and then put addresses in that you wish to forward? This may make the number of entries in the address table smaller. What a service provider is trying to do is provide some connectivity for customers between their own sites but keep inter-customer traffic separated. ------------------ A1 and A2 can communicate but cannot ! 900EF ! see any packets from B or C. B and C ------------------ would be able to see only their own also ! ! ! ! ! ! but no one elses. A1 B1 C1 A2 B2 C2 Can filtering on the 900EF acheive this? dave

3591.1 | Use VLAN capability of V1.6 | MOSCOW::FELIZHANKO | Things can only get better... | Wed Jun 05 1996 02:25 | 5 |
It's a VLAN capability, not filtering. New firmware V1.6 (will be free) of DECswitch 900EF will do what you are looking for. However, you need clearVISN VLAN Manager to configure VLANs and load the switches (not free). Works just fine! |
