I'm looking for some help determining the proper configuration for the following network environment. We are loading software on to pc's and need to perform this as quickly as possible. We are using Depea's which we have measured as having an effective through put of 0.6Mbps. Server----Gigaswitch-------Decswitch----Repeater-----Depea--PC 900EF -----Depea--PC -----Depea--PC cont. Based on 0.6Mbps per pc it would appear that a lan of 15-16 pc's would saturate an ethernet. If there were a repeater with 16 pc connected to each of the DECswitch 900EF ports this would yield 60Mbps. If we connected two DECswitch 900EF's in a ring off a Gigaswitch FGL-2 DAS port then this would appear to be max out the FDDI ring. Now I know its not this simple. However I'm getting confused trying to determine what I really should be calculating. Were/how do I apply the various performance numbers listed to predict what I'll need? The DECswitch 900EF lists the following; Maximum packet throughput: 60,000pps Maximum filtering rate: FDDI-460.000pps and Ethernet-14880pps Max forwarding bandwidth: Forwards at wire speed, 60 Mbps(10*6) I'm also trying to get some dates and numbers for the VN900EF as this with Portswitch modules as this looks like a good solution. Any other approaches welcome. Scott
