The customer has provided us a DECrepeater 90FA without the manual. Pardon me if the answer is in the manual. When I place the 90FA in slot 7, the power LED is on. When I place it in slot 3, the LED is off even though the # LED is on. Is this a problem? I plan on using only the fiber ports. Thanks, Leland

It must be in slot 7 or 8 to use the AUI. Don't know whether another slot makes the fiber active.

We hooked up the fiber tonight and it works with the module in slot 2. The power light is still not on. I'm still interested in knowing if it should be or it won't light unless the module is in slot 7 or 8. Leland

I will assume that you are plugging it into a DEChub 90. 12 V power only goes to slots 7 and 8 in the 90. 12V goes to all slots in a dechub 900. the circuitry is checking for 12 V.

Thanks for the answer. It is a DEChub 90. I have a DECrepeater 90FS manual and it is interesting that its LED lights when the module has 5 v of power. Leland

The 90FS DC OK LED is designed to NOT light when the module is not receiving 12V power. Additionally, if the 90FS is placed in a DEChub 90 in any slot other than slot 7 or 8, the firmware realizes that no 12V power is available and flashes the FRU OK LED. When no 12V power is available on a 90FS, the backplane thinwire port is not functional, the front-panel AUI port has no power for an external MAU, and the Flash code store cannot be updated.
