Hi, A customer would like to get the following statistical data about their network: There is a decnet-only node which is used by a lot of other decnet node on WAN via a decrouter-250. Is it possible with Probewatch (or other tool) to filter the decnet traffic from and to this node, and gather the decnet addresses with which this node communicates? Thanks, Endre

3547.1 | Just attach a LAPTOP running IRIS near the node. | MSDOA::REED | John Reed @CBO = Network Services | Wed May 22 1996 10:08 | 13 |
I would use IRIS, which is a PC-based network monitoring tool, for Digital Internal use only. It can be set to look at packets only going TO or FROM your node in question, and will give you real-time data, instead of the much slower process of loading the packetprobe with commands, waiting for uploads, and decodes. The packetprobe is really good for graphing, or comparing many segments at once. but your need would be easily and simply met using IRIS. IRIS can be found at the RANGER::IRIS notes conference. I would think that you could do this by creating a domain with only decnet as the protocol and enabling converstations logging. Scott |
