Could anyone tell me if  f  Probewatch is capable to translate node 
address (MAC IP DECnet...) to node name , and how to perform that.

I read throw all the notes and I'am still confused.

    As far as I know, automatic translation is done only if you configure
    edit the /usr/macaddr.nam or the ipaddr.nam
    Obviously you should known the name of the station anh his mac or IP
    address before filling up these files.
    
    Would be very interesting if someone else could explain a better way to
    do it.

    For IP:
    
    I believe it has options for doing name to address translation. If the
    s/w does not find ipaddr.nam it goes to dns for the translation. If it
    does find this file it tries to do a local lookup within the file. We
    have scripts here which take advantage of this for our not quite
    bought yet probes. The script will potentially create reports for IP
    'hosts'. However, these hosts may be NODEs or they could be SUBNETs. If
    the report type is for a NODE then I force it to use dns. If it is a
    SNET report I pull in my own ipaddr.nam created from /etc/networks
    file. This was required because very few nets are registered. When the
    SNET report is done the file is pushed out again clearing the way for
    dns resolution.
    
    FOR MAC and DECnet:
    
    I think your only option is the flat file as described in .-1
