3496.0. "hubwatch and read/write " by CSC32::D_PERRIN () Mon Apr 29 1996 17:34
Security concern from a customer. Hubwatch 4.1.1. DH900 4.1.0.
1) For the DH900 the snmp read/write string is changed to
something other than "public"
2) You run HUBwatch with "public" and get into MANAGE CURRENT
3) HUBwatch displays ACCESS: as read-write even though it isn't
and "appears" to allow you do do a reset on the hub, i.e,
you click on RESET and you get no error message.
It doesn't really do the reset, but there is nothing to tell
you that it didn't do it, except for watching the hub.
Pretty scary for a novice HUBwatch user!
Are the two problems in step 3 going to be fixed?
