Many customers who long ago invested into the multiple DEChub 90s. The typical configuration was a DEChub 90 with and DECagent 90, managing multiple other DEChub 90s equipped with DECbridge 90s, and tons of 90T (8 Port) repeaters. My understanding is that the old 90T - 8 Port repeaters spoke via LH - Left Hitchcock etc... Today ... These customers are maxed out and cannot add any additonal repeaters. They would like to simply add a new 90T-16 and have the same level of management that they had before. But from what i have seen in other notes in this conference ... either the 90T-16 does'nt support LH Left Hitchcock or the DEcbridge 90s have a hardware limitation in being able to manage these 90T-16s... Could someone please comment on this... -Charlie

The following is from hub engineering and talks about plans for the Decbridge 90 to be able to manage a DR90T-16 repeater. I asked if this would ever be possible and this is the response to the IPMT case. Badge : 999999 Oblig ID : A 733996 Sequence Nbr: C960427-229 Status: WOSO Expended Time 0 00:00:00 Work Unit 10 of 12 Date: 01-May-96 From: Madjid Far Dept: Network Product Support ENET: NPSS::FAR In order to manage a DETML (DR90-T16), you would need a management agent device. The devices which could be used as a management agent for DETML are: DR90TS V2.0, DR90FS V2.0, DECagent 90 V3.0 or DEChub900 Multiswitch. There is no plan to add such "management agent" functionality to DB90 to manage the DETML. |
