3480.0. "management/hardware Q's" by KAOFS::R_YURKIW (reward those who bring bad news!!) Fri Apr 19 1996 17:06

I am responding to a major rfp and require some general statements
about the following points. ANY help is appreciated...

    1) We will be proposing hubwatch/clearvisn and Decswitch 400 mgmt
software running under an existing HP Openview system. Will these
products allow for multi user access from users on Solaris 2.3 clients
    running openwindows 3.3?

    2) THey are running an app on the sun machines called Boole & Babbage
Command/Post. They ask: ASCII based event logs and command line
interfaces (both accessible over the network or through the HP Opeview
Node Manager) to allow Boole & Babbage Command/Post to perform event
managment and command automation for proactive network operations. The
ASCII based event logs must be generated and accessible in real time.

Will the managment products stated in #1 work to this requirement?

    3) As far as hardware is concerned it is a rather large installation of
DEChub900's and DECswitch 400's. Do these products support Dynamic Host
Configuration Protocol (DHCP) across component boundaries?

    4) Do the switches (DS400) provide SNMP agent supporting MIB II
(RFC1213), Ethernet MIB and Bridge MIB (RFC 1493)?

    5) Are we planning to support SNMP Version 2?

    6) Are there any proprietary MIB extensions that we use and if so can
they be compiled under HP Openview.

    7) What software is needed to manage PVC's assuming the managment
    software for the DS400 won't?

    Thanks.

    Roger
