3474.0. "Behaviour of the internal lan led of PortSwicth 900CP." by CTHU56::L_PELLAND (Luc Pelland. Hull. DTN 640-7218) Wed Apr 17 1996 18:41

Hello all,

A customer of mine call me today asking if we had changed the behaviour of
the led on the PortSwitch 900CP. What happend he had to changed his module
and the new one do not provide an activity indication on the led. The led is
alsways on for the internal lan. It does not flash anymore. Here are the
version from the different modules,

	Old modules	From hubwatch HW=V3, RO=V00.03, SW=V2.0.2
CS rev on the module A03 (with serial #).

	New Modules	From hubwatch HW=V3, RO=V00.03, SW=V2.0.2
CS rev on the module B04 (with serial #).

Can someone tell me if they realy cahnge the behaviour of the led from the
two different CS rev?

Thank you
Luc Pelland.

Well, since nobody else answered with an official statement, I will tell
you that the behavior your customer is seeing led to a hardware ECO to
the 900CP (and also, I believe, the 900TP).
    .
The fact that your customer is experiencing this symptoms suggests that
they were unlucky enough to receive one of the few modules which
escaped manufacturing before the problem was discovered and the ECO
    implemented to fix it.

I think we owe it to the customer to replace the modules with
    up-to-date versions.

By the way, the problem only affects the LED behavior... the product
itself functions perfectly well in terms of passing traffic without
    error.

3474.2How can good module be identify...CTHU56::L_PELLANDLuc Pelland. Hull. DTN 640-7218Mon May 06 1996 16:4812
Hello Marc,

Thank you for the information. One more question. How can I go about to
identify a module that would have the LED working properly. Accoring to a
system I use here of REV of module the latest shipping rev is B4 wich is what
the customer is using and he has the problem with the LED.

So How can I identify a good module other then visualy?

Thank you
Luc

ditto on the question in the last reply. I'm talking to an fse
who has now replaced 4 of these modules and would very much like
to know how to identify the ones that work correctly. Anybody
    know?
