Hi
The event display mode of a DEChub 900 (sn: AS43721159) has been
reporting "loss of 48 volt supply" errors. These errors caused the
whole hub to reboot intermittently.
Problem was resolved by changing one of the three H7890-MA power
supplies.
Config:
Slot Option
1 DECbrouter 90T1
2
3
4 DECrepeater 90T+
5
6 DECrepeater 900FP
7 DECbridge 900MX
8 DECbridge 900MX
3 * H7890-MA N+1 power
Given that the Hub has N+1 power our customer has queried why a single
supply would cause this problem. Is it possibly related to the Power
distribution FCO which has just been released - the serial indicates
that it is one of those affected.
Any ideas appreciated,
Thanks,
Patrick

Patrick, The "loss of 48 volt supply" console event does not look familiar. What was the firmware version in the DEChub 900? Does the error log have any power supply related errors? Also, what happened to the bad power supply (H7890-MA) that was swapped out? Thanks, Chip [Posted by WWW Notes gateway] | |||||
| 3464.2 | Firmware=3.1.0,no pwr supply errors | SNOFS2::OLEARY | Mon Apr 22 1996 19:08 | 12 | |
Chip,
Firmware version is 3.1.0
No power supply errors were evident when error log was dumped, only
84 occurrences of the "loss of 48 volt supply error".There were no
further occurrences of this error once the power supply in slot 1 was
swapped.
Unfortunately the suspect power supply has been returned to logistics
/repair centre and the chances of getting it back are slim.
Thanks for your help,
Patrick

Patrick, I presume that you isolated which power supply it appeared
to be by removing them one at a time until the error went away?
