3414.0. "name repeater port, lat host name, IP-addres to name" by IJSAPL::VISSER_A () Tue Apr 02 1996 05:16

Hello,

  I have some questions about hubwatch:

- Is there a way is setting a name of a repeater port and extracting
  it into a file.
  A customer is using hubwatch to register wall outlets into a
  repeater port but he need a list of these portnames. He is using
  HUB90's and repeater 90T's. CLEARvision resiliance is not supported
  for HUB90's (yet?)

- LAT host name is not shown in session detail of DS90TL
  IP address is shown.

- Is there a way in adding a IP-address to name translation file
  (HOSTS) to see names in place of IP addresses?

Use clearVISN Resilience. (soon to be renamed clearVISN Recovery Manager).

The former network admin person here in LKG wanted to do exactly what your
customer is asking for. Use Resilience to backup your repeater. The
.sdf file then contains the port numbers and port names. It is very
easy to edit that file to get the info you want. The format of the .sdf
file is documented in the Resilience kit.

You cannot do this with HUBwatch, because the DECserver 90TL/90M/900TM/GM
does not support a LAT mib.

No. Contact Jack NAC::Forrest to have this put on the V5 wish list.

3414.2Resilience does not support HUB90 ?IJSAPL::VISSER_AWed Apr 03 1996 02:548
    Hello Tom,

    Thanks for the responces. I have still one question left. I tried using
    resilience to extract the data from the repeater in a HUB90, but it
    said that this hub was not supported. Does clearVISN Recovery Manager
    support this hub ?

    Anton.
3414.3No DEChub 90 support...SLINK::HOODYour bad news bearWed Apr 03 1996 12:028
    No. I didn't realize you were doing a hub90.  Resilience 1.0
    and Recovery Manager 1.1 only support DEChub 900's, although
    2.0 will also do GIGAswitches and a few other devices.

    Darn! So close and yet so far...
