3373.1 | Hmmm so which ones are still shipping?? | NETCAD::BATTERSBY | | Mon Mar 18 1996 15:28 | 15 |
| >> The DECswitch 900EF
>>requires 45 Watts @ V5.0 and the DEChub ONE (DEHUA) "rev. # A01" only
>>supplies 40 Watts @ V5.0
My recollection of this is that the original DEChub ONE (DEHUA)
could only supply 45 watts (I'm sitting here staring at the label
of one as I type this). The newer replacement DEChub ONE (DEHUA) can
supply 90 watts (I'm staring at one of these too).
Now, the DECswitch 900EF requires 67.5 watts, not 45 watts.
Notwithstanding the wattage differences, you are correct in your
basic premise that the older DEChub One (45 watt versions) should
not be used with the DECswitch 900EF.
I thought that they had discontinued the older one also.

This might help.
-DEHUA-NB is a 90W power supply. DEHUA-NB rev A01 or A02 (or any rev)
are 90W, so you could use either rev with DECswitch 900EF.
-DEChub ONE-MX is DEF1H-MB, which is a 90W power supplies with two
MODPMD ports, and supports the DECswitch requirments as well.
-DEHUA-MB is a 45W supply, and not to be used with DECSwitch 900EF
regardless of the revision.

3373.3 | Question on ordering process... | NETCAD::BATTERSBY | | Mon Mar 18 1996 16:40 | 7 |
| Majid, the DEHUA-MB appears on the std price list as a spare.
Does this mean it can still be mistakenly ordered, or is there
the possibility that there is a hole in the ordering/config
system that would allow a combination such as a DEHUA-MB and
DEFBA-MA to appear un-checked on an order and be processed?

3373.5 | It's being investigated..... | NETCAD::BATTERSBY | | Tue Mar 19 1996 10:09 | 16 |
| This issue is being followed up and investigated by Vern Hines.
I suspect the only reason that the DEHUA-MB appears on the
standard price list is so it can replace a broken one in the field.
However, IMHO, it would make more sense to kill the 45 watt DEHUA-MB,
and when 45 watt DEHUA-MB units fail in the field, to replace them with
DEHUA-NB (90 watt), not with the MB's. This simplifies inventory
and mitigates the problem of the wrong one being used in the wrong
application (JMHO).
The problem is I also suspect, that because there is a price
differential (the DEHUA-MB's appear cheaper), that people put the
MB on the order without understanding the wattage differences between
the two docking stations, and where they can/cannot be used.
In any case, after inquiring about this yesterday, I got a message
this morning advising me that Vern would chase this one down.

3373.6 | There is always a back door | NPSS::FAR | | Tue Mar 19 1996 12:04 | 12 |
| Thomas,
I like to know what power supply you have ordered ? DEHUA-MB or
DEHUA-NB or DEF1H-MX and from what stock room?
Bob,
A customer can not order a DEHUA-MB. There could be some in
stock room 17 field spare, for customer who need replacement.
Thomas is in NIO manufacturing site, purchasing at the site could
have gone through a non external customer ordering process.
