3331.0. "upgrade to 900EF/MP from 900EF fails 'too long'" by BARNA::DSMAIL () Wed Mar 06 1996 11:31

    Hi all,

    I'm trying to upgrade a DECswitch900EF with the MP routing sw.
    I've ftped DECSWITCH900EF-MP-V1_0_6.BIN from haggle.lkg.dec.com
    and I renamed it (for not exceding the 8 characters length DOS rules)
    to DEFMP106.BIN, then I copied to the firmware directory where
    Hubloader will search iy for downloading.

    After starting TFTP server on the PC I ran Hubloader over the switch,
    the downloading starts and after some minutes I get the following
    error:

    [STATUS] DEChub900: Reading_Load_File_Into_Pad
    [ERROR] DEChub900: Failed_LC_Image_too_big
    [ERROR] Load Failed!
    Polling complete

    The Netrider Loader window transfer count stops at 2049 with a
    Error- timed out message

    The image has 4096 VMS blocks and then when transferred to the PC,
    pathworks way, it has 2097152 DOS bytes

    What is happening, is the file I copied the rigth one?

    Any help will be welcome.

    Don't use Hubloader. Telnet to the switch and do...

    * t 6
    config>boot
    boot config> load remote
    remote host address [0.0.0.0] load nodes IP address
    remote path    c:\ etc etc

    Ensure the TFTP server (Netrider Loader) is running before doing the
    above commands.

    If its a DECswitch 900 without routing code then the first load
    will be done via the DEChub 900 console by redirecting to the slot of
    the DECswitch and then using the DLU option. Once it is a router you
    must use the method in -1.
