I need some network configuration advice. My customer has the following network Jacksonville ______________________________________________ LAT & IP | | Primarly | | Decserver 900 and some | | IP nodes. | | Decbrouter90 T2 #1 Decbrouter90 T2 #2 | | T1 line0 T1 line1 currently not | | enabled. Decbouter90 T2 #4 Decbrouter90 T2 #3 | | Gainsville | | _______________________________/______________/ | Alpha Host running IP and LAT Currently only T1 line0 is running. I am attempting to bring up line1. I cannot enable privilaged command on brouter #1 or #4 because the customer doesn't remember the password. What I want to do is use the second T1 line (line1) for some additional bandwidth. My plan is to configure the brouters connecting line0 to only pass LAT traffic and to configure the brouters connecting line1 for IP traffic. I plan to configure all brouters for bridging only, because the IP addresses are on the same subnet in both Gainsville and Jacksonville. My questions are as follows: 1. Is it true that if I use both serial ports on the same brouter that the second port runs only at 64K ? 2. Can the brouters be configured to pass only lat traffic and filter out all other protocols ? Generally what commands would I use to configure this ? I found the "lat disable" command for the IP only brouters but the commands to filter out routable protocols seem to be involved. 3. Can I still assign IP addresses to the ethernet interfaces on all the brouters so I can use telnet to connect to each brouter? 4. Does this look like a good solution to the problem or is there a better way to solve this ? Thanks in advance for your suggestions. Ray Reeves

3330.1 | Try KALI::DEWBR? | SNOFS1::KHOOJEANNIE | Humpty Dumpty was pushed | Sun Mar 10 1996 21:21 | 11 |
Answer to 1 is that the DECbrouter has been certified with one port operating at 2Mbps and the other at 64kbps. This is not to say that other speeds (e.g. both at 128kbps) won't work, just that they are not officially supported. Answer to 3 is yes, I think. What about trying the KALI::DEWBR DECbrouter conference? Regards Jeannie |
