3303.0. "FDDI concentrator900MX and dechub-one : how to get 6 M ports ?" by TOOPCS::SELLES () Thu Feb 22 1996 13:26

i try to setup a concentrator900MX powered by a dechub-one ( not the
MX type ) to have the 6 front ports as M ports : kind of NAC setup
( Null attachment Conc )

from the setup port , i can switch between A/B configuration to M/S
configuration and so i end up with ports 1 to 5 as M ports , and port 6 as
S port ;

now with OBM port , i run HUbwatch 4.1.1 and conc900mx with 3.2.2 firmware ;
but when i click into the Configuration window form the Summary window , i only
get "No reponse from the agent "

is it possible to do such a setup ?

thanks for your help

    I don't know why you got the "no response" message from Hubwatch, maybe
    it is a communication problem to the OBM port.

    As for your configuration, NO, you cannot have 6 front panel M ports
    because you do not have a onehub-mx.

    My suggestion is to leave the concentrator at default (AMMMMB). If you
    have SAS workstations, an S-A and S-B connection is okay. If you have
    DAS connections, you will have a B-A connection for the first
    workstation, then use the A ports on the rest of the workstations.
    (A-M and A-B).

3303.2ok for getting back to A-B frontTOOPCS::SELLESFri Mar 01 1996 09:1910

	thanks Mike for your help

next time i go to customer , i will set the configuration back
to AB front instead of MS as in this case i lose 1 port ( port 6 ) as it is
configured as S port and i risk ending up with a S-S connection as the customer
only uses SAS connections from its stations
