3286.0. "Cisco VLAN" by BERN02::DEY (Walter Dey, MCS NS, Berne Switzerland) Thu Feb 15 1996 10:39
I got this out of the Cisco Internet newsconference.
Does anybody know if Cisco with their Frametagging a la 802.10
can communicate between a host on VLAN attached to Catalyst
and a host directly attached to FDDI ?
Cheers
Walter.
My next point of curiousity has to do with what happens when hosts
are attached to the FDDI ring. These hosts don't know anything about
VLANs, so do I have to configure the main/physical FDDI on the router for
a seperate subnet and then hosts in a VLAN talk to the FDDI attached hosts
via the router? What does the Cat5000 do with a broadcast it receives from
a host on FDDI that has no 802.10 header? If the answer to the first question
is yes, then are there any FDDI NIC drivers that understand 802.10 VLANs?
