Recently I have found a bug with a Decserver 90M using the
Digital Multistack system. The customer uses 10Bt and has no
plans in using the thinwire portion. The server appears to power
up and pass selftest. After a few minutes the network light
goes out. Looking at the doumentation on the stacking system
implies that only thinwire is supported.
In the terminal_servers notes conference note 2884.0 it claims
there is a work around to the problem.
Does anyone have any other ideas ?

| 3274.1 | connect the NETWORK server to a network! | PTOJJD::DANZAK | Pittsburgher  | Tue Feb 13 1996 21:21 | 16 |
It's my experience that the 90M WANTS TO SEE A NETWORK...it doesn't
care if the network is a 10 base T or 10-base-2...but just be there.;
Afte rall, it's sosrt of silly to buy a network access server and then
not connect it to the network, eh?
So, either plug in the 10-T connector to a network, OR, terminate the
10-2 (thinwire) with a T and two terminators and all will be fine.
Is this multistack stand-alone (i.e. no other multistack modules?) or
is it stacked with others? If it's stacked with others, why waste a
10-T port when you can daily chain with 10-w (thinwire?)
Regards,
