>> Failed to fetch UID files for HUB type 6
This is a result of the installation instructions not being completed by the
installer. Please make sure you read the instructions. I will include the
solution for this problem below:
================================================================================
There are system parameters that must be set up - per instructions in the
release notes, installation chapter and post-installation notes. These are
actions that can not be automated - they are system setup parameters.
The error you are seeing is due to the fact that the user hasn't increased the
maxfiles parameter as requested (and required) in the post-install instructions.
The default value is 64 and we recommend the user to increase it to 100 or even
128.
The user can do this by:
a. logging in as superuser,
b. invoking 'sam', the sys adm utility and choosing "modify system parameters"
c. scrolling down to 'maxfiles' and changing the default (64) to 128
d. saving and exiting.
The above actions cause the system to rebuild a kernel and reboot with the
modified maxfiles value. The problem then goes away.

I have installed HUBWATCH (v4.1.2) for HP-UX
which works fine if I invoke hubwatch by itself
#hubwatch -a xx -x 16.x.x.x -c public
But if I try to launch it from HP opnview ( i have the dechub symbol on
all the hubs, I have agent file which has rwx protection)
but still I get the following error.........
HUBwatch for HP-UX, Revision V4.1.2
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
HUBwatch:
You have not specified an SNMP agent to be managed. The agent
name or its IP address must be specified, either on the command
line or in the resource file. HUBwatch command line syntax:
hubwatch -a <agent_name> -x <adrs> -c <comstr> ...
For more information, type "man hubwatch".

Note 3230.3 hubwatch for openview 3 of 3

Finally got Hubwatch launched from OPenview.. The hub is properly
registered with an IP address (xx.xx.xx.xx) and name (hub1).
Eventhough from openview, if I search the hub by its name it gives
full name/ip address... Hubwatch did not recognise the name
so, I had to change the hub's selection name
to its IP address from its name hub1 in-order to make
hubwatch work from openview
Never have this problem from polycenter netview
