| This may well be another twist on a known problem for which a fix has been
released. If the DECserver is a rev "B02" or "C02" but NOT rev "B01" or "C01",
then there is a situation where a left hitchcock management message can be
received at that moment in time while the server is fetching the FIFO byte
count, one byte at a time. The interupt can cause the byte count to be
corrupted and result in the FIFO being flushed. This was originally seen in HUB
90's equiped with DECbridge 90's as the bus master, but it could just as easily
occur with the DECagent 90. The fix is contained in ROM Version 5.5 of the
DS90L+. HOWEVER, don't waste your time replacing the ROM if your 90L+ is NOT
a hardware rev B02 or C02 as shown on the unit's DATAPLATE. This problem CANNOT
OCCUR with rev B01 or C01 hardware !!!
The ROM is supposed to be a MCS Logistics stock item, under part number
23-358E7-00. If that part isn't available, try ordering a complete 90L+ server
at rev D.

| Better yet - upgrade to a 90M! (Who wants a LAT only server in a
multi-protcol world) point out that the 90M offers slip, ppp,
appletalk, netware, etc.....may be time for a trade-in!
