3228.0. "PROBEwatch V3.3x user manual?" by LEMAN::PAIVA (Hawkeye - Network Support @GEO) Fri Feb 02 1996 08:21
Hi!
I had a customer having problems with PROBEwatch for Digital Unix
V3.31 because he only received the installation manual which went OK.
However, he didn't have any directions after that. So what I did was
copy over the net the version available on bhub (V3.32) and install it;
even ran the IVP: OK. Without any other directions, I went to /usr/.smdb.
to check the .inv of PROBEwatch to see that everything had been installed
in /usr/kits/PROBEwatch. Being a user of PROBEwatch for Windows, I knew
the file to execute was nsman.
But then it complained about NSHOME env. var. not being set. The
solution is is NAC::NIPG:[manage.rmon]pw_osf.tip execute .netscout and
then you can launch nsman (in the bin subdir).
I also saw in NAC that a pw_use.man was there which I copied.
It's for UNIX OK but V3.1... Nevertheless, it never tell you about all
this, it just says "When you start PROBEwatch, the Main screen appears..."
So the questions are, where can I find the V3.3x User manual and
shouldn't the instructions to avoid the above stated problem be written
somewhere in the docs the customer receives?
Cheers,
Pedro
