3182.0. "Probewatch V3.3, Win 3.1 problem." by TROFS::WEBSTER (NIS, London, Canada) Fri Jan 19 1996 00:37

	Anyone seen this problems with installing Probewatch V3.3 on
	Windows 3.1?

	I installed it today on customer DECpc433dxLP with DE204 card. Install
	went as expected. Reboot and STRTNDIS to bring up IP ok. Ping works
	ok, but start windows and start Probewatch... main screen comes up
	for a second and then app closes...no messages.

	I checked NSHOME, WSAVERS, all the \PROBEW directories for all the
	correct files, as per V3.2 install manual. Made sure SYSTEM.INI
	was correct. The PC has nothing installed except DOS and windows.

	This is the same symptom I get under Windows 95. Worked ok on upgrading
	from 3.1 to 3.3 on Windows NT3.51.

	Any suggestions, as this is urgent (on-site doing a LAN analysis for
	customer).

    Yes, you probably didn't copy the license file. The should be another
    icon in the group which is labelled Probewatch Console. Start if FIRST
    and then start ProbeWatch. It will tell you why ProbeWatch isn't
    starting.
3182.2I'll check license fileTROFS::WEBSTERNIS, London, CanadaFri Jan 19 1996 10:1511
	I'll check if the license file is there. I check on this WIN95
	PC and it is

		Serial number: 0000000000
		Expiration date: 00-00-00
		Password: e75a-b164-e8b5-be8b

	So that's not the problem with WIN95.

3182.3Problem solved. WIN95 ok too.TROFS::WEBSTERNIS, London, CanadaFri Jan 19 1996 10:218
	You were correct. Thanks very much.

	The console indicated the it could not find \probew\usr\license.cfg.
	The license file was in \probew. Moved it to the correct directory
	and now it works under WIN95.
