| Be sure they have started the hubloader tftp server. It's amazing how
many customers forget to do that.

3155.2 | using Unix system to update 900TM | HTSC19::IVANCHENG | | Fri Jan 12 1996 12:00 | 58 |

The customer does not buy hubwatch software so they could not have
hubloader. But they are using TFTP server which is SUN system to
load the firmware into the 900TM.
Does it work if using Unix system to update 900TM ?
Thanks.

| Yes, a Unix system can be used as the TFTP server. You need to make
sure it is set up correctly and that the TFTP daemon can see the files.

The customer is ensure that the TFTP server setting is correct because
the other HUB modules could be updated such as 900EF and 900TP. They
could see the message ".... Transfer Completed" after transferring file
on 900TM.
The testing result is as follows :
---------------------------------
Connect to the serial port of H900 backplane.
Select option 6 (Downline Upgrade)
Select 900TM on slot 5
Output:
DLU process started
.............................................
..........
Transfer Completed
.......
Tftp timeout <<----------- error message
Any Ideas ?
Thanks.

| Personally, I've seen problems like this when trying to use the MAM to do the
download to a DR900. Try downloading direct. Assign an ip address to the DR900
then take option 9 (redirect) on the DH900 console, and connect to the DR900.
Then take the download upgrade option from that menu.

They have already tested your procedure but still failured.
The testing result :

Connect to the serial port of H900 backplane.
Select option 9 (redirect)
Select the slot 6 900 CP
ON the 900 CP menu, select option 6 downline upgrad

| Make sure you have the correct image, it is the correct
size and is not corrupted. Can't think of anything else
offhand, maybe the repeater folks have some suggestions????

3155.8 | Repeater image from consolidated kit or standalone copy? | NETCAD::BATTERSBY | | Mon Jan 15 1996 09:08 | 8 |
| Following on Mike's thread, did the customer get the repeater
image from a CDROM consolidated kit, or did they copy the repeater
image over the Internet? I know from personal experience in the past
that copying binary images from - to different platforms (pc - unix,
etc.), requires specific syntax in the command line, otherwise one
does not get what one thought was a binary image.

Those firmware images were copied from internet. We shall temporary
install the hubloader software at the customer site to fix the problem.
Thanks.
