One of our customers has a 3COM LANPLEX 5012. They have an FCM (a 4 port FDDI concentra concentrator) on it. They want to purchase one of our concentrators (namely 900MX) and want to create an FDDI ring of trees. All the ports on the FCm are M type ports. So, how can I create a ring ? As far as I know we can connect one M port to our B/S port. But they want to attach another M port to the A port. The reason is they want a redundant link. I think this is not possible. So, we have thought about dual homing. Is it possible ? If yes, how can we do it ? I am looking forward for a very urgent reply. Thanks Resan YUNER

If you have only M ports to connect to, you cannot form a ring. You can dual home the concentrator by connecting both its A and B ports to M ports on the LANPLEX but it only makes sense from a redundancy standpoint if they were connected to different module/linecards/whatever-a-lanplex-has. -Mike |
