3106.0. "network management" by BBIV02::XFMV01::DIVYESH () Thu Dec 28 1995 08:17

Hi,

  I have one customer who is runnig HP open view with HUB watch..
  He has some queries rgarding network managment whch are as follows,

  1) Setting collision threshold limits for ehternet ports & auto alarm
     feature if the ethernet port exceeds threshold limit.

  2) Is there any way to assign repeater ethernet port to a particular
     station & if so is there any way to detect intrusion when some
     other station is connected on that port.

  3) Inventory feature for keeping information of all stations (various pc's
     & networking components) .I think this feature is available in network
     management software like LANDESK.

  These feature are available in HP open view or HUB watch...Inputs on this
  will be really helpful..

Not in HUBwatch. I don't know about OpenView. Better alarming capability
will be in the next version of HUBwatch.

Many - but not all - repeaters support eavesdrop protection and intrusion
protection. Information should be in the repeaters fact sheet and other
documentation.

You can name repeater ports to keep track of single stations attached.
Other than that, I can't think of any feature which aids in inventory
control.

3106.2Is DECrepeater supports this feature?BBIV02::XFMV01::DIVYESHFri Dec 29 1995 08:1411
    Hi Shawn,

    Thanks for your immediate response.

    Can u tell me one more thing ?
    Is Digital repeater DECrepeater90TS and DECrepeater90T-16 supports
    evasdrop and intrusion detect facility?

    Thanks

3106.3Yes for 90TSLEMAN::PAIVAHawkeye - Network Support @GEOFri Dec 29 1995 08:385
    Yes for 90TS, don't know (but don't think so) for 90T-16

3106.4DETMI support AUI on the back?JULIET::yosmte::HARRIS_MASales Executive IIWed Jul 10 1996 14:0910
    I know it's been asked before, but I can't find it.

    Does the DECrepeater90T-16 and DECrepeater90TS BOTH support the DETAX-UA
    to give an AUI port out the back? I know the 90T-16 does, but I find
    mixed answers in the buyer's guides, sales updates, etc on the 90TS.

    Anyone know for sure? I need to sell 8-port units with an AUI connection
    so I assume I sell DETMI-MA + DETAX-UA to get what I want. Yes?

3106.5STRWRS::KOCH_PIt never hurts to ask...Wed Jul 10 1996 14:5011

    No.

    To get an AUI with the DECrepeater 90TS, you must order the STANDALONE
    version of the DR90TS.

    The DETAX-UA does NOT WORK with the DR90TS. Also, only the DR90TS
    support manageability. The DR90T-16 can NOT be managed unless an "S"
    version of a repeater is connected in a stack.

    Am I clear?
3106.6Thanks,JULIET::yosmte::HARRIS_MASales Executive IIWed Jul 10 1996 15:2110
    The -AA version of the DR90TS threw me for a curve. It is the only
    module that has the AUI snap-on cover without the DETAX mounting shelf.
    It was that interim snapon that we never productized (remember it was
    going to be a $99 option for lots of modules? I forgot we even had
    anything that used it anymore).

    Anyway, thanks. The DETMI-AA is $1095 and has the AUI port on the back,
    but NO PLASTIC MOUNTING SHELF... darn.
