In the following configurations, should the SQE switch be enabled on the
DEFLM? Why?
Thanks!

I'd say NO because you'll be in an IEEE 802.3 Ethernet network and not
an Ethernet V2 one. However, if you have a VMS system for instance
you'll should see your "Carrier Detect Check Failure" counter increment
whenever you send a packet (in the DECnet IV line counters).
Cheers,

| 3097.2 | Turn it ON. | MSDOA::REED | John Reed @CBO = Network Services | Fri Dec 29 1995 20:57 | 11 |
Heartbeat should ALWAYS be enabled, regardless of IEEE 802.3, or
ENET_II. The ONLY time to disable heartbeat is if the NIC side of the
transceiver is connected to a repeater port, or a DELNI (The DELNI
only because someone MIGHT attach a repeater to the DELNI).
Both instances in your example (#1, and #2) are showing the MAU
connected to the AUI port of a bridge. In both of these cases there is
no question. The SQE should be enabled.
