| You'll have to be more specific about this DECswitch 900EF you have.
You say it is "running 1.5". Can you be more specific here? when
you look at the console menu 3 can you see the revisions of the
hardware, ROM, and firmware? Does the unit appear to be running
as a bridge/switch, or is it running as a router? There is a revision
of switch code for this product that is old but it is 1.5.0.
When you dump the error log, you get more information than what you
have entered. Can you provide a more detailed error log dump, that
is available from the console?

Thanks for your timely reply. I have been speaking to a few people
about this problem, and the general concensus seems to be that we need more
information about what he wants the module to do, and what he thinks he
should be running to do this.
I will try and get the full dump, and post that here. I will also try and
get the output, from the sho current settings option. As soon as I get
this information I will post it.
Regards
Steven

3094.3 | need more info | NETCAD::CURRIER | | Fri Dec 22 1995 13:27 | 19 |
| you need to get the name of the devices as advertized by the firmware
as well as the version number.
if you have a mib brouser, get sysDescr
if the device is in a hub, redirect the setup port to the device and
get info about the device
if you are using hubwatch, if you double click on the device from the
main hubwatch screen and you get another window called the bridge
summary window, then you definitely DO NOT have router code in the
device.
note that version numbers are unique to the firmware and many devices
have been at version 1.5
