3092.0. "DECbridge 90 LED question" by UFP::LARUE (Jeff LaRue: Regional Network Consultant) Wed Dec 20 1995 12:59

    I'm trying to troubleshoot a DECbridge 90 problem.......is it
a correct/normal condition for the L1 (bridge forwarding state)
led to be on if I just power-up the bridge without connecting it
to anything? (I do have a 't' connector on the backbone port)

We just replaced the bridge module with this new one....and we
are not seeing any traffic go through the bridge....

3092.1what do the other LED look like?NPSS::RAUHALAFri Dec 22 1995 11:506
when the forwarding state LED is on that means it's NOT forwarding
messages. this happens for the first 30 seconds after selftest and
then it should go off, so it should go off 1 minute after powerup,
    meaning it's then forwarding.

My question is what happens after the 30 seconds.......will the LED go
"off" even if there is no traffic to forward? ....e.g. I power-up the
module in an empty backplane with a terminator on the bridge backbone
    port......

the LED will go off even if there is no traffic to forward. make sure
there is also a terminator or connection on the work group port.

    ..it's plugged into a DEChub 900 backplane.....

Must be a DOA. I'll call field service, again!

make sure noone disabled one of the 2 ports, in which case it will
never enter forwarding mode. SHOW PORT 1 and SHOW PORT 2
