3087.0. "workgroup between hubs" by IB001::ELSA () Tue Dec 19 1995 09:18

    Hi,

    	One customer has defined on one DECHUB900 with a repeater that
        supports per-port switching and some groups.
    	An on another hub900 has the same one repeater that supports
        per-port switching and defined some groups.
    	This two hub900 are connected on the same lan. The question is
    	if you may make that one group of one hub900 belong to the same
    	group that the another hub900.
    	It's workgroup between two differents hubs.
    	Thanks for any information.

    You can create groups in the 900TP and it doesn't matter whether the
    module is in a chasis or a ONEHUB. If for example you create 3 groups
    in one 900TP and 3 groups in a second 900TP, add an extra RJ45 in each
    group. The extra RJ45 can be used to interconnect the groups between
    the 2 portswitch modules via UTP.

    	900TP	Group #
    PC   1---:
    PC   2---+
    PC   3---+-----> 1
        -5---:
       |
        ------------------------------> UTP to group 1 in second 900TP

    PC   6---:
    PC   9---+
    PC  10---+------> 2
    PC  30---+
       -31---:
      |
       --------------------------------> UTP to group 2 in second 900TP

    The only remaining issue is whether the VLANs need to be interconnected
    to allow the users to communicate. If yes then a DECswitch 900EE/EF
    in one chasis could accomplish this task.
