3073.0. "Unsent, Carrier Check Error. Meaning/indication?" by ALFHUB::RUFF () Sat Dec 16 1995 17:01

    Users on DEChub 90 w/Repeater 90C's being dropped. Using LAT and IP
    protocols for Terminal connectivity. Looking at DECbridge 90 counters
    we see:

    Unsent, Carrier Check Error counters incrementing up to 1,000 per day
    on a few HUB 90's w/DECbridge 90 and fully loaded on two backplanes
    with DECrepeater 90C's. Found that some Hubs show a few, some a lot.
    The manual has no reference or guidance on the counters, of course.

    It is a Digital site (COP) with 8 floors, each floor with a LAN connected
    via Chipcom.

    The majority of the Carrier Check errors are on the Workgroup side.
    No specific Thinwire drop seemed to be the culprit. When we removed
    drops, the counters continued to incrememnt. When we removed the empty
    repeaters, the errors went away. Looks almost like a loading (power?)
    problem.

    Any help on defining what the Unsent, Carrier Check Failure error means
    on the Workgroup side of the Hub 90 and ideas about the possible
    loading problem would be greatly appreciated.
