Setup Routing on DECswitch 900EF I have copied the files, decswitch900ef-ip-v103.bin and mp-v103.bin. I want to turn routing on this switch, as part of a DEChub900 I have. When I try to do the upload, I get TFTP timeout... 1.) do I have the right files? 2.) how to I enable TFTP? I have an AlphaStation 250 that I've copied these files over the net... I have setup an AUI > DELNI > DECswitch 'LAN' temporarily to perform the above... is there something I'm missing...other than documentation...smile. /Mic

Re: .0 It sounds as if you have the right files for the 900EF. The upgrade process usually goes pretty easily. You either: - use HUBLOAD and treat the routing binary file as a firmware upgrade - use a TFTP server and use to module setup menu option to upgrade via TFTP Once you have loaded the upgrade, then use the new module setup menu to config an IP address. At this point then you need to use TELNET to talk to the router cosole, and configure routing. You can either use a TELNET app of choice or use HUBwatch, double click on the module and launch TELNET. You cannot redirect the HUB setup port to 900EF/MP (or IP) and talk to the router console. Michael PS In case you ever want to convert this or another 900EE/EF back to level 2 switching, you need connect to the router console, and use the TALK 6/BOOT/LOAD REMOTE command to reload (from a TFTP server) the level 2 switching .BIN file | |||||

Re; .-1 One more note -- use HUBwatch V4.1.2 or later to work with routing on DECswitches -- use no version before its time :-) Michael |
