Hi, on saturday we replaced 33 DECrepeater 900TM with PORTswitch 900TP on 13 DEChubs and we had a lot of trouble with connecting the PORTswitches to the flexchannels. 1. In 1 DEChub we connected 2 PORTswitches with the following configuration slot 6 all port's on group 1 connected to the first Ethernet flex lan Thinwire connection to group 1 but not connected to the Backplane thinwire. slot 7 all port's on group 1 connected to the second Ethernet flex channel Thinwire connection to group1 but not connected to the Backplane thinwire each of the modules is connected via port 1 to a router. After connecting the flex channels the internal lan 1 LED on both Portswitches remains on yellow and the we had no connection over the modules. Solution: We replaced the DEChub Backplane 2. in a second DEChub we installed 3 PORTswitch 900TP. slot 5 all port's on group 1 connected to the first ethernet flex lan Thinwire connection to group 1 connected to the backplane thinwire all slot 6 all port's on group 1 connected to the first ethernet flex lan Thinwire connection to group 1 but not conn. to the backplane thinwire. slot 7 all port's on group 1 connected to the second ethernet flex lan Thinwire connection to group 1 but not connected to the backplane thinwire port 1 in slot 6 and port 1 in slot 7 are connected to a router. After connecting the flex channels the internal lan "2" LED on the PORTswitch in slot 5 remains on yellow and we have no problems conecting to the network. Why did the LAN "2" LED in slot 5 still remain on yellow? No group 2 is configured on th module?? Replacing the PORTswitch and using another slot doesn't sho any difference. 3. in another DEChub we installed 4 PORTswitch 900 TP slot 2 port's 1-16 on group 1 connected to the first ethernet flex lan port's 17-32 on group 2 connected to the second eth. flex lan Thinwire connection to group 1 but not connected to the backplane thinwire slot 5 all ports to group 1 conn. to the first flexlan thinwire to group 1 but not connected slot 6 all ports to group 1 conn. to the second felxlan thinwire to group 1 connected to the backplane thinwire slot 7 all ports on group 1 conn to the third flexlan thinwire to group 1 but not connected port 1 of slot 7 and slot 6 and slot 5 are connected to a router we got no lan connection between slot 2 group 2 and slot 6. the lan connection slot 2 group 1 to slot 5 was ok. replacing the modules in slot 5 and 6 dosen't help so we connected the backplane thinwire of the module in slot 2 and d disconnected the flex lan conn of group 2 and everything works. The Firmware is DEChub V4.1.0 PORTswitch 900TP V2.1.0 So are there any known Problems with the PORTswitch and the flex lans? It seems that we're having problems with the backplane connection's. Before we swapped the repeaters with the portswitches we didn't had any Problems. On Thursday we're going onsite to replace the 2 DEChub Backplanes. regards christoph

hi, we replaced the DEChub Backplanes and it's working now. On one BAckplane we saw that the Heatsink of a Transistor was not soldered correctly and broken.(on the module with the lower Backplane connectors) regards christoph |
