3022.0. "How to from DELNIs to DEChubs" by SCAS02::BERNAL (We all smile at 5:00 pm) Thu Nov 30 1995 17:11

	Our customer currently has about 800 terminal servers . They
	include decserver 100,200,500,550 and xyplex ( mx-1640-002 ).

	They would like to migrate to hubs but would like to keep most
	of their investment .

	What they would like to do is to get rid of all of the DELNI's.

	What kind of devices can we use to accomplish this .

	Any ideas ,

	thank you
	Frank Bernal

3022.1Is DELNI a four letter word?CGOS01::DMARLOWEHave you been HUBbed lately?Thu Nov 30 1995 18:008
    As long as you (they) are keeping all those old servers that use AUI's
    then stay with DELNI's. We do not have a hub based DELNI.

    Having said that, they could put UTP MAU's on all the terminal servers
    and connect them into DECrepeaters 90T+ or 90TS or 900TM or 900TP either
    hub mounted or standalone.

3022.5Or, use THINwire and DECXMsPTOJJD::DANZAKPittsburgher Sat Dec 02 1995 07:2210
    Of course, if they did not want to consume many 10-T ports, they could
    use DEXCMs (AUI-Thinwire) and daisy chain all the THINWIRE connected
    servers to a thinwire segment and then into a DEXCM on an AUI off a
    DECswitch 900EF, 900EE or a DECrepeater 900GM.

    (Note that 300s may have thinwire on 'em anyway so....etc.)
