3010.1 | Installation manual/check DOS=HIGH,UMB | NETCAD::WAGNERCOFFIL | | Tue Nov 28 1995 09:05 | 12 |
| There are good examples of AUTOEXEC.BAT and CONFIG.SYS in the HUBwatch
Installation and Configuration manual. Look in this conference for pointers.
One sure saver... Make sure in your CONFIG.SYS that DOS=HIGH,UMB appears
at the top of the file(actually before the DEVICE=C:\DOS\HIMEM.SYS and
DEVICE=C:\DOS\EMM386.EXE). If the DOS line does not occur before these
lines you will not be able to take advantage of the Upper Memory Blocks
between 640K and 1meg. Then you can start loading other components in
your AUTOEXEC.BAT high with the LH or LOADHIGH command and/or in CONFIG.SYS
high with the DEVICEHIGH command.

3010.2 | Give it some EMS | LEMAN::PAIVA | Hawkeye - Network Support @GEO | Mon Dec 04 1995 04:05 | 8 |
| The PATHWORKS stack also likes ExPANded (EMS) memory
(DEVICE=...\EMM386.EXE 2048 RAM) for giving it 2MB. You'll then
probably have to try out some EMSLOAD before the commands in the
STRTNDIS.BAT.
Hope this helps!

3010.3 | Not much memory freed up... | DAVIDF::FOX | David B. Fox -- DTN 285-2091 | Mon Jan 15 1996 14:20 | 9 |
| Back to my memory problems...
I made the suggested changes and still only have 371kbytes available.
I'm going to try playing with STRTNDIS.BAT to get things to load high.
What is the difference between LOADHIGH and EMSLOAD? Is there
documentation anywhere on EMSLOAD?
Thanks!
David
